Do you agree with this quote?

"Eminem's lyrics corrupt young people everywhere without them even realising it. Yes he may be speaking from his heart, but the whole world doesn't need 2 know about his problems. His songs lyrics are inappropriate full of contention along with a catchy beat, so it sticks in your head and gets you sucked in. He is not a good influence and needs to be stood on."

He's a modern-day poet, end of story.
The part above where the person says, "The whole world doesn't need to know about his problems"
is exactly what I think is wrong with Christianity today, to tie it into a spiritual point.
Jesus says, "Suffer with those who suffer".
The whole world SHOULD know about his problems, and that's the whole point.

I wonder if Eminem's detractors have ever listened to anything he's saying.
It's the same people who say that Shakespeare is totally relevant.

But if you're looking for "nice" things and "good" things, don't read Shakespeare.
And don't read the Bible, either.

hmmm... interesting

the christian side of me says those lyrics are inapropriate...

but i listen to him and many other music that would be titled inapropriate like this.... His lyrics are for the most part really good and fun to listen to. My favorite part is the emotion. This sounds terrible but his music is so entertaining and appealing to me beause of the anger and hatred in his words and voice. It strikes a certain feeling that i really enjoy, and i think throwing out that emotion in music forces you to miss out on a lot of great stuff

That doesn't sound terrible at all.
It makes you sound like a human being with emotions.
Emotions are good and natural.
It's how we ACT based on those emotions.

Besides, our enjoyment of music IS emotion.

Eminem is saying something in a lot of his lyrics, and he's writing poetry.
He's communicating with the world.
Are we to tell him that we don't like the way he's communicating?
LOL.
We don't have to buy the CDs and we can turn the radio if it's inappropriate for kids
who don't understand what it means.
And yeah, it gets pretty violent.
But HE'S violent.
I'd let Kirsten listen to somebody like Eminem WAY before I'd let her watch Hannah Montana.

EDIT: That's another hypothetical, so take that with a grain of salt.
I could always say "neither", LOL.
But as a parent, I could never defend Hannah Montana, but I could make a case for Eminem.
