| Possibly the best band ever to me. I am willing to fight to the death over this. Now how do you think they compare to DD (whom I have heard little of) and do you guys like them? | |

I'm willing to agree with that. We've gone around and around on the LK board about whether or not music is completely subjective, and it seems most of us agree on that. I know Cool Barn really likes the Beatles. Where is he??? Maybe I'll have to start deleting his posts again.

Having said what I said, there is certainly a sense in which music is subject to critical review. If someone says that Britney Spears is the greatest artist ever, well, we have a problem. Here are my favorite bands, usually in this order: 1-Duran Duran 2-The Beatles 3-Panic at the Disco 4-Third Eye Blind 5-George Michael 6-James Taylor Anyone else have a Top Five/Six/Ten?

Is Paul McCartney your favorite rock bassist then? I think he's great. Here's a few examples of good basslines from John Taylor, Duran Duran's bassist, one of the reasons some of us have been fans for so long: http://drop.io/duranduranriohttp://drop.io/duranduranlastchanceonthestairwayhttp://drop.io/durandurannewreligionhttp://drop.io/duranduranskindiversThat last one, "Skin Divers", includes a rap by Timbaland, as has split the fans. Actually, the entire album, Red Carpet Massacre, has really pissed off a ton of them, Cool Barn included. I really wanted to throw that one in there, though... I hope you like them!

| As a bass player, he is the best and my favorite. As a music writer, the Beatles completely kill him. | |

Did you check out any of those John Taylor basslines? Yeah I heard them. Duran Duran sounds strange... like a corny soundtrack to an 80s movie actually burn

Remember, though, that their music DEFINED the 80s, and a lot of other bands wanted to sound like them, due to their success. So that "style" of music really caught on. I feel that they excelled and were different than the others, though. Here's a couple more that DON'T sound "80s": http://drop.io/duranduranrcmhttp://drop.io/duranduranwht(or at least I don't think they do)

I watched Atmosphere's performance on Letterman just now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRQQE6XfQAgThe guy seems cool, neat song. But wow, those backup singers are awful! LOL. Maybe it's just the sound system, but they sound really off. I'd like to hear more of this guy, and check out his lyrics. He's clearly relying on his lyrics for his music to reach listeners, right? Because the beat is pretty basic...way cool, but nothing spectacular. Tell me more about this Atmosphere poop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRQQE6XfQAgI really don't like the way we have to go about posting links on here. Ugh. Definitely getting vBulletin or SOMETHING!

| oops!!! i messed up ... i meant to have Sublime on that list but whatever
ok so atmosphere is an underground rap band that (are u ready?) GOT FAMOUS! i started listening to them a couple years back when basically no one knew them and like 5 albums later their on mtv... anyway... his lyrics are really good but he doesnt always depend on them he's got some good beats... here's a list of his (in my opinon) best song in order
1. little man 2. Godlovesugly 3. sunshine 4. yesterday 5. one of a kind
ok so those are my favorite 5 but i love his other stuff still... listen to them!!!
and yea those back up singers were TERRIBLE but the part for that song is kind of weird to sing and very repetitive and kind of annoying... i like the song but he should have chose a better chorus
