PostSubject: Hypothetical   Sun Aug 10, 2008 4:17 am

O.K., I've said before that I do not like hypothetical questions and arguments.

But just for fun, I have a question.

There's an OBVIOUS homeless guy on a corner where there usually aren't homeless people.
He clearly needs money.

You've been promising your five-year-old daughter for a week that today will be the day
that she gets to go to Chuck E. Cheese, and she's REALLY excited about it.
Not to mention you're a little behind in your bills.

She sees the homeless guy and points him out.

You have a twenty dollar bill, and that's it.

What do you do?

wait how could you go to Chuck E. Cheese's with $20 anyway

and I would just go to Chuck E. Cheese's. You've already promised your daughter. Going against your word is not something God would want I think.

I don't know why I used the word "promised".

Let's say we just decided it that morning.

This may be a stupid idea for a topic, I don't know.

If I only had $20 I wouldn't tell my daughter we'd go to Chuck E. Cheese's.

I'm out ruling the homeless man altogether. The question here is whether to pay your bills or take your daughter somewhere fun. My daughter would have to understand priorities and I would apologize for giving her false hopes since bills must be paid. Chuck E. Cheese's is just temporary amusement while if you don't pay your bills, you may have to pay for it your whole life.

What I would like to know now is what your decision was.

Too hard to answer.
Too much involved to give an answer to something as vague as that, LOL.
I just wanted to see what kinds of answers I'd get from you guys.

My only answer is this:
Jesus tells us to take care of the poor and needy, not to make sure our kids get to eat pizza
and play video games.
LOL.
That being said, I've taken Kirsten there three times, and while it's great to see her enjoy herself,
I can't help but feel like a sucker.
And lazy.

But it is what it is, and whatever.

EDIT:
I think at times we get too wrapped up in Entertainment and Our Bills and revolving credit,
and fail to remember this:

Mt. 25:31-46.
"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. And all the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on His left.
Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'
Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite you in, or naked, and clothe You? And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'
And the King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'
Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.'
Then they themselves will also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?'
Then He will answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

I think that speaks VOLUMES about the Nature of Jesus,
and what truly pleases our Lord.

Jesus would want us to help the homeless, but not with money. We should be proactive and give them something to eat, etc... and if you were behind on your bills you shouldn't be promising Chuckie's... go to the park, somewhere free.

I would like to see POP*ICON admit here in front of everyone
that she now agrees with me, as per our phone conversation.

Smile

Just kidding.
