| yeah it's the anniversary today
It may be heartless of me, but I really don't see why people make such a huge deal of it. people died, yeah, but people die all the time in much larger groups. Is it the symbolic value (it was the thing that started the war) or just because of the deaths, because if it is the latter, I must either be a sociopath or some other form of crazy.

Nah, not a sociopath, and not crazy. There are certainly many reasons we're remembering this day, not the least of which: the most amount of Americans died that day than any other day in history, right? I mean, that alone would give us cause to honor it. But with the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Secretary's Day, etc., it's no wonder some of us become so disillusioned. Be pissed at the government and people using this day to further their campaigns (I'm not saying they ARE, but I'm sure many HAVE), and grieve with those who grieve. Peace, brotha!

| Oh okay so it's not weird to think that basically everybody in Washington is using 9/11. Well, that's a bit of a relief.
I don't find the use for having any memorials. Like, I went to Washington D.C. on a field trip two years ago and it made me so mad that we spent so much money and space on memorials. I just don't see the use of them. We can have history written down, but don't use resources to remind us of something we already know about.
