Basically heavy music with all to mostly screaming vocals

What do you think about this genre? Can you even call it a genre? Tell me what and why! Very Happy

of course it's a genre. And I found it annoying at first. I don't respect/like them for their ability to make music, however, I do respect/like the ability to play their instrument to its fullest extent.

eh... that made no sense. I mean, I like listening to it and admiring their skill level on their instrument (as one would listen to dragonforce), but I do not consider the songs they create to be music (fine, BMI, no italics) like the Beatles, Death Cab, etc.

Of course it's a "genre".
You called it death metal, so clearly it has a classification, LOL.

As for me, I absolutely can't stand it.
But I have many friends with what I feel to be excellent musical tastes who DO like it,
so I think I'M the one who's not getting it.

But I don't really care if I "get it" or not.
I have Duran Duran, the Smiths, Naughty by Nature, and Panic at the Disco.
That's all the poop stink I need for right now.
LOL.

Excellent post.
Except I would take "music" out of the italics, and read it like that.

LOL!!!

ok dude if u listen to any Bring Me the Horizon you'll realize its incredibly musical and 30x more musical than anything we have ever wrote... its very similar to classical music except played on different instruments

The vocals are just a way of bending your voice, and many people enjoy, as people enjoy singing and rapping

I'll go search for them on youtube right now.
But remember, even though you say, "you'll realize it's incredibly 'musical'", that means pretty much nothing.

I mean, I know what you mean, sort of, as SOMETIMES we have similar tastes.
But I believe music to be 99% subjective, and besides, define "musical".
LOL.
No such thing, insofar as critical analyzing goes.
I mean, if it's MUSIC, it has to be MUSICAL.

But I'll check it out.

What do you know about The Smiths?
I just discovered them a couple weeks ago, and I'm blown away.
Here's a link:

See you soon, hopefully!

Well, I got two songs into it and I wanted to slash my wrists.
Good heavens, Philip.
Are you all right?

Like I said, I'm sure it's ME who doesn't get it.
And I've heard every single defense of the music, and I'm not going to argue.

I hope someday I come around, though.

Hey, I'm sort of getting into a KoRn phase again...maybe that will help!
Smile
